COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB (Hons) Commercial Law program is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive understanding of law within commercial and business contexts. In the first year, students build foundational legal knowledge through modules such as constitutional and administrative law, the English legal system and skills, contract law, and criminal law, developing essential analytical, reasoning, and legal research skills. The second year deepens understanding of business-related legal principles, covering tort law, business law, equity, trusts and succession, and commercial law, alongside specialised optional modules such as the law of information, intellectual property and social media, and principles of tax law. The Ruskin Module further supports broader academic development and critical thinking. In the final year, students focus on advanced legal concepts and practical applications through modules including property law, EU law, legal and social obligations of business, and employment law and relations. Additional optional modules, such as civil litigation and financial crime and regulation, allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests. The program also includes an undergraduate major project, enabling independent research and in-depth exploration of a commercial law topic. Overall, the course equips graduates with strong legal reasoning, problem-solving, and business awareness, preparing them for careers in law, corporate governance, consultancy, or further professional legal training.
