COURSE CURRICULUM

The Strength and Conditioning with Rehabilitation degree provides a thorough education in exercise science, biomechanics, rehabilitation, and coaching, preparing students for careers in strength and conditioning and performance enhancement. In the first year, students develop a foundation in multidisciplinary sport and exercise science, sport coaching and development, and practical delivery of physical education, while gaining professional development skills and completing a CIMSPA Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification. The second year builds on this foundation with applied research skills, physiological profiling for strength, power and endurance, functional rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, applied coaching and teaching, and biomechanics, alongside a CIMSPA Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification. The program also includes the Ruskin Module and professional development opportunities, allowing students to integrate practical knowledge with academic study. In the final year, students focus on long-term athlete development, rehabilitation for performance, exercise medicine, advanced strength and conditioning, applied biomechanics, physiological basis of training, and physiological responses to training. They also undertake an undergraduate research project and an advanced work placement to gain hands-on, real-world experience. Throughout the degree, students learn to apply scientific principles to optimise performance, prevent injury, and support rehabilitation, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and professional experience to succeed in careers within sport, fitness, and rehabilitation sectors.
