COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology with Clinical Psychology degree offers a structured and in-depth exploration of human behaviour, mental processes, and clinical practice across three years. In the first year, students are introduced to foundational concepts through modules such as Becoming a Researcher, Self and Society, The Psychology of Everyday Life, Mind and Behaviour, and Clinical and Health Psychology. These provide a broad understanding of psychological principles while developing critical thinking and research skills. In the second year, the focus shifts to more specialised topics and applied practice, including Social Psychology, Brain, Body and Mind, Diagnosis and Formulation in Mental Health, and both qualitative and statistical research methods, alongside the Ruskin Module. This equips students with the tools to analyse, interpret, and apply psychological research in practical contexts. The final year emphasises advanced study and professional preparation, with modules in Psychological Assessment, Psychological Therapies, Cognitive Neuroscience, Atypical Development, and Professional Skills in Clinical Settings. Students also undertake a substantial Psychology Project to develop independent research capabilities. Optional modules such as Educational Psychology, Cyberpsychology, and Culture and Health allow for tailored learning. Graduates complete the course with a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, robust research expertise, and practical experience, providing a solid foundation for careers in clinical psychology, mental health, research, and related fields.
