COURSE CURRICULUM

The Nursing (Adult) degree at ARU is structured to provide a thorough and progressive education in adult nursing, combining academic study with extensive practical experience. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Foundations of Communication and Professionalism for Nursing, Fundamental Skills and Procedures for Nursing, Applied Health Science for Nursing Across the Lifespan, Epidemiology, Inequality, and Health Promotion for Nursing Across the Lifespan, and Contemporary Nursing Practice 1. This year focuses on developing essential nursing skills, clinical knowledge, and professional values while easing students into university life with the Into ARU module. Year 2 expands on these skills, emphasizing patient safety, professional development, and integrated care through modules including Supporting a Patient Safety Culture in Nursing, Supporting Learning and Professional Development in Nursing, Contemporary Nursing Practice 2, Assessing and Planning Care Across the Lifespan, and Coordinating and Leading Integrated Care in Interprofessional Settings. Students gain practical experience in diverse healthcare environments, preparing them for complex care scenarios. In Year 3, the focus shifts to advanced clinical decision-making and leadership, with modules such as Clinical Decision Making in the Acutely Unwell Adult, Personalised Care and Public Health in Adult Nursing, Contemporary Adult Nursing Practice 3, Leading and Managing Quality Care in Adult Nursing, and Managing the Care of Adults with Complex Care Needs. The program equips graduates to provide high-quality, person-centred care and enter the nursing profession confidently.
