COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cyber Security and Forensic Computing undergraduate program offers a structured pathway to develop the technical skills and professional expertise required in modern cyber security and digital forensics. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge in programming, relational database development, computer systems, networking, and web development, while the Into ARU module supports academic integration and personal development. The second year builds on these fundamentals with modules in network and operating systems, professional development, network and cyber security management, and digital forensics, alongside team-based project work and the Ruskin Module to encourage critical thinking and interdisciplinary learning. Students learn how to analyse digital footprints, manage security threats, and apply forensic methodologies in practical scenarios. In the final year, the focus shifts to advanced studies, including preparing digital forensic evidence, cryptography and information security, ethical hacking, and future technology development, culminating in a major project that integrates knowledge and practical skills. Throughout the course, students develop a combination of technical proficiency, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for careers in cyber security, digital forensics, information security, and related fields. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, professional standards, and real-world applications, equipping graduates to investigate cyber incidents, protect digital assets, and contribute effectively to the rapidly evolving technology and security landscape.
