COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Networking degree at ARU Peterborough provides students with a thorough grounding in both foundational and advanced networking concepts, preparing them for a career in the IT sector. In the first year, students develop essential skills in programming, relational database development, computer systems, networking fundamentals, and web development, creating a strong technical base. In the second year, the focus shifts to more applied aspects, including network and operating systems, cyber and network security management, and secure computer networks, alongside opportunities to develop professional skills through teamwork-based projects. Students also engage with the Ruskin Module to broaden their academic perspective. The third year emphasizes advanced networking technologies and future developments in IT, covering automation, enterprise networks, cloud computing, and advanced networking concepts. A Computing Major Project allows students to apply their cumulative knowledge to a substantial, real-world or research-based project, fostering problem-solving, innovation, and independent working skills. Practical, hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and technologies ensures graduates are ready to meet the demands of professional roles such as network administrator, network engineer, or IT support specialist. By combining technical expertise, security awareness, and teamwork skills, this program equips students with the confidence and competence to succeed in the fast-evolving field of computer networking.
