COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Games Programming degree provides students with a comprehensive understanding of programming and software development within the context of the games industry. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamental concepts of game development, including game concepts and analysis, programming basics, software development for games, and developing for game engines. These modules establish a solid technical foundation while fostering creativity and problem-solving skills essential for game programming. In the second year, students build on these skills through collaborative projects, technical development, and the study of complex systems for games, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical, team-based scenarios. They also engage with the Ruskin Module to broaden their academic perspective and research abilities. The final year emphasizes professional practice, with students participating in studio-based projects and a Major Project, providing opportunities to develop, test, and polish games from concept to completion. Throughout the program, students gain experience with industry-standard programming languages, tools, and engines, preparing them for careers as games programrs or software engineers. The course also promotes key professional skills, such as teamwork, project management, and communication, ensuring graduates are well-equipped to enter the competitive gaming industry with both technical expertise and a portfolio of professionally developed projects.
