COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Business and Healthcare Management degree is structured to build knowledge and skills progressively over three years. In Year 1, students examine local and national health and social care needs, alongside the roles of public, private, and voluntary organisations. They explore contributions from HR, operations, quality control, and finance to service excellence, while developing economic, accounting, and mathematical understanding. Employability skills are strengthened through critical thinking, group work, and varied assessments such as projects, presentations, and exams. Year 2 focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship in healthcare, preparing students to transform ideas into operational businesses. Modules cover HR management, marketing at domestic and international levels, and the role of health informatics in achieving business objectives, with an emphasis on sustainability in career development. In Year 3, students tackle contemporary healthcare challenges, including customer service, facilities, and financial pressures. They learn to evaluate organisational situations, develop strategic plans, and assess leadership and change management through theory and case studies. The Undergraduate Major Project allows for in-depth research on real-world healthcare scenarios. Across all years, assignments are designed to enhance transferable skills sought by employers, ensuring graduates are ready for impactful careers in healthcare and business sectors.
