COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music Production degree at ARU provides students with a comprehensive education in the technical, creative, and professional aspects of modern music production. In Year 1, students develop a solid foundation through modules such as Music in Context, Electronic Music Composition, Studio Techniques, and Music Production, supported by the Into ARU module to ease the transition into university-level study. These modules focus on understanding music theory, composition, recording techniques, and studio practice. Year 2 builds on this foundation, offering more advanced and specialised modules, including Mixing and Mastering, Music Industry, Synthesis and Sound Design, Professional DJ Techniques, and Music Performance 2, alongside options such as Audio for Film, Audio for Games, Composition and Orchestration, Chords, Contours and Grooves – Songwriting 2, and Music Business. The Ruskin Module supports broader academic development. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a Final Project, a Collaborative Project, and the creation of a professional Portfolio, enabling them to showcase their practical skills, creative achievements, and industry readiness. Across all three years, the program emphasizes technical proficiency, creative experimentation, collaboration, and professional development, ensuring graduates are fully equipped for careers as music producers, sound designers, composers, DJs, or in other roles within the fast-paced music, media, and entertainment industries.
