COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Film and Television Production degree offers a highly practical approach to learning, progressing from core skills to advanced production work. In the first year, students develop essential technical and creative abilities through modules such as Screen Skills, Film Language, Film Drama: Production and Practices, and Television Production and Practice, with the Into ARU module supporting academic and professional development. The second year builds on this foundation with Documentary Making, Advanced Screen Skills, and Fiction Filmmaking, further refining expertise in cinematography, directing, producing, and editing. The Ruskin Module broadens academic perspectives, while optional modules like Independent Cinema, Filmmakers on Film, and Theorising Spectatorship deepen understanding of film culture and theory. In the final year, students focus on large-scale professional projects, including the Film and Television Production Major Project and Graduation Films, providing opportunities to showcase their skills to industry standards. Optional modules such as Commissions and Collaborations or Working in the Creative Industries prepare students for professional practice and employment.
