COURSE CURRICULUM

This Drama and Film course is structured to develop both practical skills and theoretical knowledge across three years of study. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Film Language and Concepts, Creative Moving Image, Fundamentals for Acting, Researching Performance, and a Studio Project, alongside an introduction to university life through Into ARU. Year 2 expands into more advanced and specialised areas, including 16mm Filmmaking, Festive Theatre, Theorising Spectatorship, and Community Theatre Performance, with a wide range of optional modules such as Independent Cinema, Non-Fiction Filmmaking, Performing Shakespeare, Writing for the Stage, Introduction to Directing, and Technical Production Placement. These allow students to tailor their studies towards performance, filmmaking, or a blend of both. Year 3 focuses on professional readiness and creative independence, with core modules like Professional Preparation and Showcase, and the Creative Industries Major Project. Optional modules in the final year include Screenwriting for feature films, Experiments in Film and Moving Image, Special Topics in Film Studies, and Screen Drama Production, enabling students to refine their expertise. Across all years, students have the option to take part in the Anglia Language program, enhancing their communication skills and global perspective, ensuring a well-rounded creative education.
