COURSE CURRICULUM

The Acting course offers a structured, progressive training designed to build performance skills across theatre, screen, and emerging technologies. In Year 1, students develop core competencies through modules such as Studio Performance, Voice and Movement, Introduction to Screen Acting, and Fundamentals for Acting, alongside the Into ARU module which supports their transition into university life. This year focuses on establishing a strong foundation in performance techniques, vocal clarity, physical expression, and screen presence. Year 2 advances these skills with the Ruskin Module (15 credits) and more specialised training, including the Performance Project, Physical Theatre, Performance Technologies, and Performing Shakespeare, as well as Storytelling on Screen: Collaborative Project. This stage emphasises versatility, encouraging students to adapt to various performance styles and contexts, while integrating traditional theatre with contemporary digital tools. In the final year, students focus on professional readiness and artistic individuality through Immersive Performance, a public Showcase, and the Undergraduate Major Project. These capstone experiences allow them to demonstrate their skills to industry professionals, experiment with innovative performance methods, and consolidate their creative identity. Across all three years, the course combines practical workshops, collaborative projects, and individual development, ensuring graduates leave with a comprehensive, industry-relevant skill set for careers in stage, film, television, and digital media.
