COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation Management is structured around core modules that provide a strong scientific and practical foundation in understanding and protecting ecosystems. Students study ecological management and conservation biology, gaining insight into how species and habitats are maintained and restored, while ecological monitoring teaches essential techniques for assessing environmental change and the effectiveness of conservation interventions. The program also includes frontiers in the biosciences, which introduces current advances and emerging research areas, and fundamentals of biodiversity, offering a detailed grounding in the patterns, processes and importance of biological variation. An introduction to environmental law and environmental impact assessment helps students understand the legal frameworks and assessment tools that guide conservation decisions. A substantial dissertation enables learners to apply their knowledge to an in-depth research project. Optional modules allow students to broaden their expertise further, with choices such as fundamentals of remote sensing and GIS, which provides key spatial analysis skills widely used in conservation planning, and statistical concepts, methods and tools, supporting the development of strong analytical capabilities.
