COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM International Commercial Law at Aberystwyth University is structured around core and optional modules that provide a comprehensive understanding of international business law and its practical application. Core modules, Legal Studies and the Dissertation, equip students with essential research, analytical, and writing skills, enabling them to conduct in-depth investigations into specialised areas of commercial law. The dissertation allows students to apply their knowledge to a specific topic, demonstrating critical thinking, legal reasoning, and the ability to analyse complex legal issues. Optional modules provide flexibility to tailor the program to individual interests and career aspirations, covering areas such as Aspects of Commercial Contracting, International Commercial Law, and International Trade Law, which explore the principles, frameworks, and practical considerations of conducting business across borders. Modules on Corporate Governance and Sustainability, Ethics, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility in Organisations, and Law and Gender provide insight into ethical and regulatory dimensions of global business. Students may also select modules in International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law, International Environmental Law, International Criminal Law, Migration and Asylum Law, or a Negotiated Study Module, enabling interdisciplinary engagement and specialised expertise. Together, the core and optional modules develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing graduates for careers in international law firms, government, multinational corporations, and other high-level legal and commercial environments, as well as for further academic research.
