COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB Law degree at Aberystwyth University offers a structured program that combines foundational legal knowledge with opportunities for specialised study. In the first year, students focus on core subjects including contract law, criminal law, tort, public law, legal skills and research, and the legal and criminal justice systems, providing a strong grounding in essential legal principles. The second year builds on this foundation with core modules in equity and trusts, European law, and land law, while students can also choose from a wide range of optional modules such as commercial law, employment law, family and child law, humanitarian law, intellectual property law, international law, criminology, medicine ethics, and various specialised areas exploring legal, social, and psychological perspectives on crime and justice. The third year allows students to complete a law and criminology dissertation and offers further optional modules including advocacy skills, dispute resolution, legal practice, property law, criminal law practice, and advanced studies in employment, international, family, and commercial law. Across all three years, students develop critical thinking, research, and practical legal skills, preparing them for professional careers in law, policy, public service, or other sectors that require analytical and problem-solving abilities.
