COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB Human Rights degree offers a structured progression through core areas of law while allowing students to specialise in themes relevant to justice and rights. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation by studying Contract Law, Criminal Law, Public Law, Tort, Legal Skills and Research, and the Legal and Criminal Justice Systems, gaining essential knowledge of how legal processes work and how rights are interpreted within domestic systems. Year 2 deepens this grounding with core modules in Equity and Trusts, European Law and Land Law, while a wide range of optional modules allows students to tailor their studies toward human rights–related themes. Options include Humanitarian Law, International Law, Medicine, Ethics and the Law, Climate Change and Environmental Law, Family and Child Law, Employment Law, Principles of Evidence, Criminology, and modules exploring offender treatment and criminal behaviour. In Year 3, students complete an independent dissertation and can further specialise through advanced options such as Criminal Law and Practice, Critical and Radical Criminology, Advocacy Skills, International Law, Humanitarian Law, and Wills, Trusts and Estates, among many others. This structure enables students to develop both professional legal skills and a focused understanding of the legal, social and global dimensions of human rights.
