COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Environmental Earth Science degree at Aberystwyth University provides a comprehensive foundation in geological and environmental sciences, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills through fieldwork and laboratory experience. In the first year, students study the fundamentals of Earth materials, surface environments, and life on Earth, while developing essential skills in research, data collection, and fieldwork. Core modules such as “How to Build a Planet” and “Researching the World” introduce students to key scientific methods and analytical techniques. In the second year, the curriculum expands to cover environmental geochemistry, geoscience laboratory techniques, and sustainable geoscience practices, alongside modules in research design, visualization, and analysis of geographical data. Optional modules allow students to explore specialized topics such as glacial and fluvial processes, Quaternary environmental change, and sustainability practices, providing opportunities to tailor the degree to individual interests.
