COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Agriculture program progresses through three structured years that build strong scientific, practical and managerial expertise. In Year 1, students are introduced to the foundations of agricultural practice through modules on farm safety, agricultural technology, business and land use, livestock science, and crop, grassland, soil and land management. These modules provide essential knowledge of farming systems and the practical skills required in the agricultural industry. Year 2 develops more specialised understanding, with core modules in agronomy, crop improvement, livestock management, farm business appraisal, research methods, and the relationships between food, farming, technology and the environment. Students can also tailor their learning with optional modules in applied animal nutrition or controlled environment crop production and horticulture. In Year 3, the program shifts towards advanced and research-led learning. Students explore cutting-edge developments in agriculture, undertake detailed farm planning and management studies, and complete a substantial research project that demonstrates their ability to conduct independent scientific inquiry. Optional modules allow further specialisation in crop and grassland production, livestock science or sustainable land management. Across all years, the curriculum combines scientific principles with practical application, preparing students for professional roles in farming, agribusiness, consultancy, and environmentally responsible land management.
