COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Agriculture with Animal Science program is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive blend of agricultural and animal-focused education. In Year 1, students develop foundational knowledge in agricultural technology, farm safety, crop and grassland management, livestock production, land use, and essential skills for the agricultural industry. This establishes a strong practical and theoretical base for future study. Year 2 builds on this foundation with core modules in animal breeding, genetics and reproduction, applied nutrition for livestock and companion animals, livestock production and management, and research methods. Optional modules allow students to specialise further in areas such as agronomy, farm business appraisal, veterinary health, immunology, or food, farming, technology and the environment. These studies combine scientific, economic, and practical perspectives to develop well-rounded understanding. In Year 3, students focus on advanced topics including livestock production science, cutting-edge agricultural developments, and a substantial research project demonstrating independent investigation and applied learning. Optional modules provide opportunities to explore specialised areas such as animal behaviour and welfare, farm planning, veterinary pharmacology and infectious diseases, or advances in crop and grassland production. Across the program, practical experience, research-informed teaching, and exposure to real-world agricultural challenges equip graduates with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue careers in livestock management, animal science, and broader agricultural sectors.
