COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc International Human Resource Management at Abertay is a CIPD-accredited program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required to manage human resources in a global context. In the first term, students study International HRM, gaining insight into human resource practices across different countries and multinational organisations, and Comparative HRM, which highlights the differences in employment systems and the influence of economic, political, and social factors on HR strategies. Optional modules such as Employee Relations and Engagement and Strategic HRM in a Business Context allow students to explore specialised areas, including workforce engagement, organisational alignment, and strategic decision-making in HR. In the second term, Research Methods provides students with the analytical and research skills needed to design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based HR initiatives, while Human Behaviour at Work examines the psychological and organisational factors that influence employee performance and wellbeing. Managing and Building Human Capital focuses on talent management, workforce development, and performance improvement strategies. The program culminates in a Final Project, giving students the opportunity to undertake an applied or research-based investigation that consolidates their learning and demonstrates their ability to address real-world HR challenges. Overall, the MSc prepares graduates for strategic HR roles in multinational organisations, consultancy, and leadership positions, enabling them to manage people effectively in diverse and complex business environments.
