COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Human Resource Management at Abertay is a CIPD-accredited program that combines theoretical understanding with practical and analytical skills to prepare students for strategic HR roles in domestic and international organisations. In the first term, students study Leadership in a Changing Environment, developing the ability to guide teams and organisations through complex and evolving business contexts, and Strategic HRM in a Business Context, which focuses on aligning human resource practices with organisational goals. Optional modules such as Employee Relations and Engagement and International HRM allow students to explore specialised areas, including effective workforce engagement strategies and managing HR across global operations. In the second term, Research Methods equips students with the skills to design, analyse, and apply evidence-based HR solutions, while Human Behaviour at Work examines psychological and organisational factors influencing employee performance and wellbeing. Managing and Building Human Capital develops strategic approaches to talent management, workforce development, and performance improvement. The program culminates in a Final Project, providing an opportunity to undertake an applied or research-based investigation, consolidating learning and demonstrating the ability to solve real-world HR challenges. Overall, this MSc equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required to implement effective HR strategies, improve organisational performance, and lead people management initiatives in diverse and complex business environments.
