COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Fintech program at Abertay University blends expertise in finance and cutting-edge computing to address the evolving challenges in the financial sector. The course begins with Introduction to Data Science, where students explore the data life cycle and gain fundamental knowledge of the tools and technologies shaping data science in modern industry, science, and public services. Fintech and Disruption focuses on the impact of technological innovation in the financial sector, using a multidisciplinary lens that incorporates economics, strategic management, financial innovation, and technology studies.Advanced Financial Reporting and Analysis strengthens students’ skills in preparing and interpreting financial statements. It provides a critical understanding of international financial reporting principles and examines the limitations of conventional accounting practices. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence equips students with the ability to build intelligent, user-facing solutions, selecting and applying the most effective AI and machine learning techniques based on human behavior patterns.Research Methods introduces core concepts of research design and statistical analysis. Through lectures and practical lab sessions, students apply both qualitative and quantitative techniques to real-world problems. Financial Management combines corporate finance with equity investment to develop a broad understanding of financial decision-making and theory from an international perspective.The program concludes with a Masters Project, an independent research-based investigation. Students select a topic, apply suitable methodologies, collect and analyze data, and present findings in a professional format. This final project brings together the learning and skills developed across the course, preparing graduates for impactful careers in fintech by offering both theoretical understanding and practical experience in finance, analytics, and emerging technologies.
