COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Construction and Project Management at Abertay combines technical, managerial, and research-focused learning to prepare students for leadership roles in the construction industry. In the first term, students develop a strong foundation through modules in project management and health, safety, and environmental management, equipping them with the skills to plan, execute, and oversee construction projects while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The second term focuses on innovation, technology, and global business perspectives, with modules covering innovation in design, research methods, international business and management, and building information modelling and asset management. These areas provide students with practical and strategic tools to manage complex projects, optimise resources, and integrate modern technologies and sustainable practices into construction planning. The program culminates in an MSc dissertation, where students undertake independent research on a construction or project management topic of their choice, applying critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills to address real-world challenges. By combining theoretical understanding, practical application, and research expertise, the MSc equips graduates with the knowledge and confidence to lead projects effectively, implement innovative solutions, and make informed decisions in diverse construction and infrastructure environments, enhancing their career prospects in senior construction and project management roles.
