COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Civil and Environmental Engineering program integrates a broad range of advanced topics to prepare students for modern engineering challenges. The Health, Safety and Environmental Management module emphasises practical tools and frameworks for addressing environmental issues in both public and private sectors. It highlights the growing recognition that environmental responsibility is central to effective management. The Renewable Energy module explores the science, technology, and socio-economic impacts of renewable energy, with a special focus on biofuels, equipping students with an understanding of sustainable energy alternatives.BIM & Asset Management introduces students to Building Information Modelling and its application throughout a structure’s lifecycle, enhancing decision-making through digital data integration. The Waste, Wastewater Management and Climate Change module provides in-depth insights into applied environmental management and regulatory standards, alongside the impact of climate models, promoting strategies for mitigation and adaptation.Students also gain skills in research and statistical analysis through the Research Methods module, which combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practice. The MSc Dissertation offers an opportunity for independent, specialist research under academic supervision, fostering deep exploration of a chosen topic.Advanced Geotechnical Engineering teaches students to solve complex engineering problems using innovative, environmentally sustainable approaches, supported by specialist software. The Innovation in Design module applies critical thinking and analytical tools to real-world projects, simulating the feasibility stage of design in civil and environmental engineering. Altogether, this curriculum prepares graduates to lead and innovate within the evolving field of engineering.
