COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Applied Artificial Intelligence and User Experience program at Abertay combines advanced technical knowledge with a deep understanding of human behaviour to equip students for designing effective, user-centred AI systems. In the first term, students develop foundational skills in user experience research, data science, and human psychology, exploring both the commonalities and individual differences in human behaviour to inform AI design. These modules provide the theoretical and practical grounding needed to understand how people interact with technology and how AI systems can be optimised for usability and engagement. In the second term, the focus shifts to machine learning and artificial intelligence, case studies, and research methods, enabling students to apply data-driven approaches to real-world problems while critically evaluating AI systems from both technical and user-experience perspectives. The program culminates in a Masters project, where students undertake independent, applied research to solve complex challenges at the intersection of AI and human interaction. Throughout the course, students gain practical experience, analytical skills, and ethical awareness, preparing them to design AI systems that are intuitive, effective, and human-centred. Overall, the MSc equips graduates with the expertise to work in technology, design, and research roles, creating AI-driven solutions that meet user needs while advancing innovation in digital environments.
