COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Environmental Management & Sustainability degree provides a strong foundation in both environmental sciences and engineering management, preparing students to deliver practical, sustainable solutions. In the first year, students develop core academic skills through Abertay 101 and numeracy modules, while building essential knowledge in management, engineering science, group design, landscape processes, surveying and introductory environmental science. These modules provide a broad understanding of environmental systems, technical principles and team-based design approaches. In the second year, the focus shifts to more specialised engineering and environmental topics, including surveying and construction, water resources, fluid mechanics, environmental engineering and project management. Professional practice modules and academic support for second-year entrants ensure students gain practical experience and develop the skills needed for real-world applications. Throughout the course, students learn to analyse environmental challenges, integrate technical and management perspectives, and apply sustainable practices in engineering and environmental contexts. By combining theory with hands-on learning, the program equips graduates with technical expertise, project management abilities and critical thinking skills, preparing them for careers in environmental management, sustainability consultancy, engineering projects or related sectors.
