COURSE CURRICULUM

The WorkS – Lifelong Learning, Sustainability and Work program is structured over two years to develop expertise in sustainable workplaces, lifelong learning, and leadership. In the first year, students begin with foundational courses in social sciences of sustainability and social sustainability in working life, followed by subjects exploring the meaning of work, identity, learning, and sustainable career development. They also study leadership strategies for promoting lifelong learning and creating sustainable workplaces. In the spring semester, the focus shifts to research and practical exploration, with courses in research methods, field studies in the world of work, and a systematic literature review. These courses help students build strong analytical and research skills while connecting theory to real workplace contexts. In the second year, students deepen their understanding through advanced perspectives on the transformation of working life, examining how work environments are changing due to social, technological, and economic factors. The program concludes with a master’s thesis, where students conduct independent research on a chosen topic related to lifelong learning, sustainability, or work. Optional courses allow further specialization in areas such as sustainability, social justice, digitalisation, and communication. This structure ensures a balance of theory, research, and practical application, preparing graduates to lead positive change in workplaces and organisations.
