COURSE CURRICULUM

The Global Studies: Sustainable Societies and Social Change program is structured over two years to build strong interdisciplinary knowledge and research skills focused on sustainability and social transformation. In the first year, students begin with foundational courses in social sciences of sustainability and an introduction to global studies, followed by in-depth exploration of critical issues such as climate change, environmental challenges, social justice, equality, and human rights. They also study project planning and sustainability strategies, which help them understand how to design and implement solutions. In the spring semester, the focus shifts to research methods, where students develop skills in data collection and analysis, alongside advanced courses addressing urban and rural challenges and broader environmental, social, and economic sustainability topics. In the second year, students have the option to pursue an internship or select from a wide range of elective courses, including areas such as globalization, communication, media, education, and cultural studies, allowing them to tailor their learning to specific interests. The program concludes with a master’s thesis, where students conduct independent research, often in collaboration with an organisation. This structure ensures a balance between theory, practical application, and research, preparing graduates to contribute effectively to sustainable development and social change.
