COURSE CURRICULUM

The Conflict, Risk and International Security (CRIS) master’s program is a two-year interdisciplinary degree that focuses on understanding global security challenges and the dynamics of conflict and risk in contemporary society. In the first year, students begin with core courses in security studies, examining fundamental concepts and theories related to international security. They also study War and Changing World Orders, which explores how global power structures evolve and influence conflict. Risk Management and Society provides insight into how societies perceive and respond to various risks, while Waves of Terrorism focuses on the development, causes, and impacts of terrorism over time. In the spring semester, students develop research skills through Research Methods in Global Studies, alongside courses in International Organizations and International Law, which examine the role of global institutions in maintaining peace and order. Peacebuilding introduces strategies for post-conflict recovery and stability. In the second year, students complete an elective semester, allowing them to specialise or broaden their knowledge in related fields. The program concludes with a Master’s Thesis in Global Studies, where students conduct independent research on a chosen topic. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in diplomacy, international organisations, policy analysis, security agencies, and research roles focused on global peace and security.
