COURSE CURRICULUM

The WorkS program in Lifelong Learning, Sustainability and Work is a one-year master’s degree that explores how work, education, and sustainability intersect in a changing global society. It focuses on developing professionals who can support lifelong learning and promote socially sustainable working environments in the context of digitalisation, globalisation, and evolving labour markets. In the autumn semester, students begin with Social Sciences of Sustainability, which provides a foundation for understanding sustainability from a societal perspective. They also study Social Sustainability in Working Life, which focuses on fairness, inclusion, and well-being in professional settings. The Meaning of Work course examines identity, learning, and how individuals interpret their working lives. Leading Lifelong Learning for Sustainable Workplaces develops leadership skills for promoting continuous learning in organisations, while Managing Sustainable Career Development explores how careers evolve across different stages and directions. In the spring semester, students take Research Methods I, which builds skills in academic research and analysis. Field Studies in the World of Work provides practical experience by connecting theory to real workplace contexts. The program concludes with a Master’s Thesis, where students independently research a topic related to work, learning, and sustainability. Overall, it prepares graduates for roles in HR, education, policy, and organisational development.
