COURSE CURRICULUM

The Interventions in Childhood one-year master’s program is designed to provide advanced knowledge and skills for working with children and young people who require additional support, with a strong focus on inclusion, development, and well-being. In the autumn semester, students begin with an Introduction to Interventions in Childhood, where they gain an overview of key concepts, theories, and professional approaches used in child-focused intervention work. This is followed by Theory of Science and Scientific Methods, which equips students with a strong foundation in research methodology, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice. In the spring semester, students study Developmental Sciences and Intervention Processes, where they deepen their understanding of child development and learn how different intervention strategies can be applied in practice across various contexts such as education, healthcare, and social services. A major component of the program is the one-year master’s thesis, completed in the same semester, where students conduct independent research on a topic related to interventions in childhood. This allows them to apply theoretical knowledge and research skills to real-world challenges. Overall, the program combines theory, research, and applied learning to prepare graduates for professional roles in child development, education, healthcare, and social support services, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based and interdisciplinary practice.
