COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sustainable Communication master’s program is structured over two years to develop strong analytical, research, and communication skills focused on sustainability. In the first year, students begin with foundational courses in the social sciences of sustainability and introductory concepts of sustainable communication, followed by subjects such as transmedia storytelling and the technopolitics of sustainability. These courses help students understand how communication shapes sustainability issues across different contexts. In the spring semester, the focus shifts to research and practical application, with courses in research methods, communication for social change, and sustainability challenges, allowing students to analyse real-world problems and develop effective communication strategies. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge through advanced topics such as communication commons, collaboration and sustainability, and media imaginaries, exploring how communication systems influence societies and communities. The final semester is dedicated to a master’s thesis in media and communication, where students conduct independent research on a chosen topic related to sustainable communication. This structured progression ensures a balance between theory, research, and practice, preparing graduates to work in roles that require strategic communication, critical analysis, and the ability to address complex sustainability challenges in various organisations and global contexts.
