COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Product Development with a specialisation in Assistive Technology is structured over two years to combine engineering, healthcare, and innovation skills. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through courses in assistive technology, engineering sciences, and product realisation, which introduce key concepts in design and development. During the spring semester, the focus shifts to practical and applied learning, including assistive technology design, innovation projects, materials and production processes, and quality improvement in both healthcare and engineering contexts. These courses help students understand how to create effective and reliable assistive devices. In the second year, students further develop their expertise through subjects such as co-production in health and welfare, management and innovation in the health sector, and research methods with an emphasis on evidence-based practice. A significant component of this year is the industrial placement, where students gain hands-on experience and interact with industry professionals and users. The program concludes with a master’s thesis, allowing students to apply their knowledge to a real-world problem in assistive technology. This structure ensures a balance between theory, practical application, and research, preparing graduates for careers in product development within the healthcare and assistive technology sectors.
