COURSE CURRICULUM

The Prosthetics and Orthotics program is structured over three years to progressively build theoretical knowledge, technical expertise, and clinical skills. In the first year, students are introduced to the field through foundational courses in prosthetics and orthotics, health and disability perspectives, basic anatomy and physiology, and mechanics. This is followed by applied materials technology, lower limb prosthetic management, and pathophysiology, helping students understand both the biological and technical aspects of patient care. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced clinical and practical knowledge, including orthotic management, upper limb prosthetics and orthotics, and psychology to better understand patient behavior. Students continue with lower limb prosthetics, foot management, and scientific methods with statistics to support evidence-based practice. The third year emphasizes specialization and real-world application, with courses in advanced orthotic management, pediatric care, and evidence-based practice. In the final semester, students complete clinical placement studies, gaining hands-on experience in professional healthcare settings, along with an independent research project. Optional courses such as clinical gait analysis and wheelchair provision offer additional specialization. This structured progression ensures graduates are well prepared for clinical practice and research in prosthetics and orthotics.
