COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy at Schiller International University offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for the complexities of global politics, diplomacy, and international cooperation. The program blends General Education, core knowledge in international relations, and industry-specific technical courses. General Education modules provide a solid academic foundation with subjects such as Behavioral Psychology and Wellbeing, English Composition, Public Speaking, European Modern History, Global Perspectives on International Business, College Mathematics, Science and Society, and foreign language proficiency, alongside introductions to International Business and Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. The Knowledge Area courses focus on diplomacy, political science, and global economics, covering topics like Ethics and Law in International Business, Cross-Cultural Communication, Modern Diplomacy, American Foreign Policy, Concepts in International Relations, International Political Economy, International Relations of the Pacific Rim, Practical Diplomacy, and International Economic Policies. Students also explore the workings of the European Union, global trends, the U.S. political system, and issues such as resources, environmental policy, development economics, and monetary theory. Applied learning is reinforced through Capstone and Final Thesis/Project modules, enabling students to research and propose solutions to real-world challenges. Electives allow further specialisation in areas such as Sustainable Development, International Trade and Finance, The Middle East, Organizational Psychology, and Entrepreneurship, as well as advanced foreign language studies to enhance intercultural competence. By integrating political, economic, cultural, and technological perspectives, the curriculum develops students’ abilities to analyse global issues, engage in negotiation, navigate relationships between state and non-state actors, and contribute to addressing 21st-century challenges like cybersecurity, climate change, and pandemics.
