ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Schiller International University (SIU) is a private, for-profit university headquartered in Tampa, Florida. Named after the German playwright and philosopher Friedrich Schiller, the university operates across two continents with campuses in Tampa (United States), Paris (France), Madrid (Spain), and Heidelberg (Germany). Schiller offers both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, along with options for online learning through distance education. The university was founded in 1964 by Walter Leibrecht, originally as a study-abroad program designed for American students living in West Germany. Just a few years later, in 1967, the institution expanded its presence internationally by establishing campuses in Madrid and Paris. These campuses were structured to allow students the flexibility to move between them during their studies. In 1969, the German campus was relocated to Heidelberg, and by 1983, Schiller International University received accreditation from the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. Continuing its growth, the university established its Tampa campus in 1991, solidifying its U.S. presence. More recently, in 2023, the university earned accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges, further strengthening its academic credibility. With a global footprint and a flexible academic model, Schiller International University aims to provide students with an international education experience that combines mobility, diversity, and academic rigor.
