COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA in Maritime and Shipping Management at Berlin School of Business and Innovation is structured across four terms to provide a comprehensive understanding of the maritime industry. In the first term, students are introduced to core concepts such as principles of maritime and shipping management, international law of the sea, marine geography and oceanography, and port and ship cargo operations, building a strong foundation in global shipping systems. The second term focuses on specialized legal and financial aspects, including the law of carriage of goods by sea, marine insurance, and chartering, helping students understand contractual and risk management practices in maritime trade. In the third term, learners explore environmental concerns and research techniques through subjects like marine environment and pollution and research methods, preparing them to address sustainability challenges and conduct academic or industry research. The final term emphasizes practical and applied learning, where students complete an internship to gain real-world experience and a dissertation to demonstrate their analytical and problem-solving abilities. Overall, the program is designed to progressively develop technical knowledge, legal understanding, and practical skills, enabling graduates to pursue leadership roles in the global maritime and shipping industry.
