COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and Molecular Biology program provides students with strong foundational knowledge in biological sciences, chemistry, molecular biology, and biotechnology through a combination of theoretical and practical learning. In the first academic year, students study modules such as Big Ideas in Science: Life, the Universe and Everything, Biology of Cell and Organism, Chemistry 1A and 1B, Human Biosciences A, and Making Sense of Data. These subjects introduce students to core scientific principles, biological systems, chemistry, and data analysis skills relevant to biotechnology and molecular biology. Students may also choose elective modules including Foundations of Biomedical Science, Mathematical Applications in Biology, and Infections, Pandemics and Epidemics, which further expand their understanding of biomedical and global health topics. In the second academic year, students progress to more advanced scientific subjects including Career Options and Professional Identity, Introduction to Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Metabolic Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Molecular Genetics, and Pharmacology B. Additional elective modules such as Human System Physiology A and Pharmacology A provide deeper insights into human biology and drug interactions. The program combines laboratory training, experimental work, and scientific analysis to develop students’ practical skills, critical thinking, and research capabilities, preparing them for careers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, biomedical research, healthcare industries, and related scientific fields.
