COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science program is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in biological, chemical, and biomedical sciences while developing analytical and practical laboratory skills. In the first academic year, students study core modules such as Big Ideas in Science: Life, the Universe and Everything, Biology of Cell and Organism, Chemistry 1A and 1B, Foundations of Biomedical Science, Human Biosciences A, Making Sense of Data, and Mathematical Applications in Biology. These subjects introduce students to scientific principles, human biology, chemistry, data interpretation, and quantitative methods relevant to biomedical science. Students may also take the elective module Infections, Pandemics and Epidemics, which explores the causes, spread, and impact of infectious diseases on global health. In the second academic year, the program focuses on more advanced biomedical concepts through modules including Introduction to Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Metabolic Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Pharmacology A, and Pharmacology B. Students may further broaden their knowledge through elective modules such as Career Options and Professional Identity, Human System Physiology A, and Molecular Genetics. The program combines theoretical learning with scientific research and practical applications, preparing students for careers in healthcare, biomedical research, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and related scientific fields, while also providing a strong foundation for postgraduate and professional studies.
