COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce in Finance at Curtin University requires students to complete 600 credits to graduate, with most units carrying 25 credits each. The course is structured across six trimesters and is designed to provide students with strong business knowledge alongside specialised financial expertise. In the early stages of the program, students study foundational subjects such as Financial Decision Making, Introductory Economics, Communication, Culture and Indigenous Perspectives in Business, Analytics for Decision Making, Strategic Career Design, and Markets and Legal Frameworks. These units help students develop analytical, communication, and business management skills essential for careers in finance. Students also study Introduction to Finance Principles to gain a basic understanding of financial systems and investment concepts. As the course progresses, students explore more advanced topics including Business Analysis for Investment, Quantitative Techniques for Business, Introduction to Financial Instruments and Markets, Portfolio Management, International Finance, Corporate Finance, and Introduction to Derivative Securities. Elective units throughout the program allow students to broaden their learning based on personal interests and career goals. The course combines theoretical and practical financial knowledge to prepare graduates for careers in banking, investment, financial analysis, corporate finance, and other areas within the global financial industry.
