COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting at Curtin University requires students to complete 600 credits to graduate, with most units carrying 25 credits each. The course uses a range of assessment methods to evaluate students’ understanding and practical skills, including assignments, presentations, quizzes, tests, group projects, and examinations. Assessment details and weightings are provided in individual unit outlines. The program is structured across six trimesters and combines business foundations with specialised accounting knowledge. In the early stages, students study subjects such as Financial Decision Making, Applied Contract Law, Introductory Economics, Analytics for Decision Making, and Markets and Legal Frameworks, which build essential business, analytical, and legal knowledge. As the course progresses, students develop deeper expertise in accounting through units including Accounting – The Fundamentals of Business, Cost Analysis for Decision Making, Accounting for Corporations, Business Processes and Internal Controls, and Introduction to Australian Taxation Law. Advanced trimesters focus on areas such as auditing, assurance, risk assessment, corporate issues, and business strategy.
