COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance at Curtin University requires students to complete 600 credits to graduate, with most units carrying 25 credits each. The course is structured across six trimesters and combines core business studies with specialised accounting and finance subjects to provide students with broad professional knowledge and practical financial skills. In the early stages of the program, students study foundational subjects such as Communication, Culture and Indigenous Perspectives in Business, Strategic Career Design, Markets and Legal Frameworks, Financial Decision Making, Analytics for Decision Making, Applied Contract Law, and Introductory Economics. These units help students develop communication, analytical, legal, and economic understanding relevant to modern business environments. As students progress, they study advanced accounting and finance topics including Quantitative Techniques for Business, Cost Analysis for Decision Making, Accounting – The Fundamentals of Business, Introduction to Finance Principles, Accounting for Corporations, Introduction to Australian Taxation Law, and Business Processes and Internal Controls. In the final trimesters, students focus on areas such as Auditing, Assurance and Risk Assessment, Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management, International Finance, Complex Corporate Issues, and Introduction to Derivative Securities. The program prepares graduates for careers in accounting, banking, auditing, taxation, investment analysis, and corporate finance across diverse industries.
