COURSE CURRICULUM

The accounting program offers a structured progression from foundational to advanced courses, equipping students with essential skills for professional roles in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally. At Level 5, learners gain a broad understanding of business operations through courses like Organisations in an Aotearoa New Zealand Context, Business Environments, and Business Functions, while developing core accounting skills in Introduction to Accounting and Taxation, Applied Accounting, Analysis of Financial Information, and Budgets for Planning and Control. Complementary subjects such as Commercial Law and Economics provide additional legal and economic context. At Level 6, the focus shifts to intermediate-level expertise with courses including Intermediate Management Accounting, Intermediate Financial Accounting, and Taxation in Aotearoa New Zealand. Learners also develop analytical and technical skills through Data Analytics, Introduction to Finance, and Accounting Information Systems, while Law of Business Entities and Research Methods enhance understanding of legal frameworks and investigative processes. At Level 7, students refine their expertise in Advanced Management Accounting, Advanced Financial Accounting, and Auditing and Assurance. The program concludes with the Professional Accounting Project, an online, work-integrated capstone that allows students to apply their knowledge in a real-world accounting setting.
