COURSE CURRICULUM

To qualify for the Master of Applied Finance and Economics (MAFE), students must successfully complete two core courses: FIEC675 Advanced Applications in Finance and Economics and FIEC601 Quantitative Finance and Economics. In addition to these, students are required to complete 120 points of coursework, which includes 60 points from ECON 601–679 courses—with no more than 30 points from the ECON 601–619 range—and 60 points from FINC 601–679 courses, also with a maximum of 30 points from FINC 601–619 courses. With approval from the Head of the Department of Economics and Finance, students may substitute FIEC601 and/or one ECON or FINC course with another 15-point postgraduate course, allowing some flexibility to tailor their studies. The degree can be completed full-time in 12 to 18 months or part-time over a maximum of 4 years. Students can begin the program in January, February, or July, while international students have January or July start options. This structure provides a comprehensive and flexible approach to developing advanced skills in finance and economics, preparing graduates for high-level roles in the industry.
