COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Speech and Language Pathology with Honours requires a total of 480 points, structured to develop your skills in communication and swallowing disorders through a blend of coursework and extensive clinical practice.At least 405 points come from compulsory and fieldwork courses, 15 points from a prescribed list, and 75 points from Science or other degree courses. The first year focuses on foundational knowledge including anatomy, physiology, and statistics, alongside recommended courses such as child development, psychology, linguistics, and communication studies.In the second year, you delve into speech and language development, clinical linguistics, audiology, and observation of communication difficulties, with 25% of the coursework dedicated to clinical practice. The third year covers neurogenic communication disorders and applied research, increasing clinical practice to 30%.The final year emphasizes research, clinical leadership, and therapy management, with half the coursework dedicated to clinical practice. You also complete a research or capstone project and select additional advanced courses. Throughout the degree, you gain hands-on experience working with clients and practitioners, preparing you for a professional career as a speech and language therapist.
