COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Music (MusB) requires a total of 360 points, designed to offer flexibility and depth in music study. Students must complete 135 points of compulsory Music courses, at least 75 points toward a chosen major, and at least 45 points of elective Music courses. Additionally, 105 points can be taken from Music or other degrees. A minimum of 90 points must be at 300-level, with at least 60 of those points coming from Music courses. No more than 135 points can be at 100-level to ensure progression into advanced study.In the first year, compulsory courses include Essentials in Music Techniques, Musicianship, Harmony and Analysis 1, Sound Technologies, and Musics of the World, along with required 100-level courses from the chosen major. The second year builds on this foundation with Musicianship, Harmony and Analysis 2, Community Music, and an additional course from a list of options, plus required 200-level major courses. In the third year, students complete a Capstone Project and select at least 45 points from elective Music courses, alongside their 300-level major courses.Students can specialise in one of four majors: Composition, Creative Music Technology, Music Studies, or Performance. This structure allows for both a strong core in music theory and practice, and the opportunity to tailor study towards specific interests and career goals within the music industry.
