COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is a flexible and practice-oriented four-year degree requiring a total of 480 points. The program begins with the Fine Arts Intermediate Year, where students complete 90 points of compulsory Fine Arts courses—FINA101, FINA102, and FINA103—alongside 30 points of 100-level Art History and Theory (ARTH) courses. This foundational year introduces students to all five studio specialisations and plays a critical role in determining placement into one of the preferred majors based on academic performance. From the second year onward, students specialise in one studio subject—Moving Image, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, or Sculpture—and build on their artistic practice in that area. Over the remaining three years, students complete 270 points in their chosen studio major, 45 points in ARTH or Cinema Studies (CINE), and 75 additional points from Arts or other degree subjects. At least one 200-level ARTH or CINE course is required in the second year, depending on the chosen major. The degree emphasizes both creative development and critical engagement through studio practice, art history, and interdisciplinary study. Students benefit from access to personal studio spaces from the second year, and make use of well-equipped facilities, including workshops, darkrooms, computer labs, and an on-campus gallery. The BFA fosters a vibrant, supportive artistic community and prepares graduates for careers in the visual arts, design, and creative industries.
