COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the nursing program, all health sciences students start with common courses during the first semester that provide a thorough understanding of general healthcare. This foundational knowledge prepares students for specialized nursing studies. In the second semester, students are introduced to nursing practice, where they learn essential nursing knowledge, develop practical nursing skills, and gain an understanding of health service delivery. This early exposure helps students build a solid base in nursing principles and the healthcare environment. In the second year, the focus shifts to nursing individuals with both physical and mental illnesses. Students gain valuable clinical experience through community placements, working in various settings such as hospitals and community care, and dealing with acute and chronic illnesses as well as mental health conditions. Alongside practical experience, students develop conceptual knowledge, psychomotor skills, and clinical decision-making abilities, which are crucial for effective nursing care. In the third and final year, students concentrate on the complexities of caring for individuals across the lifespan—from young people to the elderly—and their families in both hospital and community settings. This year emphasizes developing advanced clinical skills, clinical reasoning, and decision-making abilities needed to care for patients with complex health conditions. Additionally, students study the effects of developmental and rehabilitation issues, preparing them to support patients through various stages of recovery and health challenges. Throughout the program, students integrate theoretical learning with hands-on clinical experience, ensuring they graduate as competent, compassionate, and skilled nurses ready to contribute meaningfully to healthcare teams and promote the well-being of diverse patient populations.
