COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Digital Services major, students begin by studying six core courses that provide foundational knowledge in computing. Alongside these, they take an introductory course focused on digital services and their importance in the development and delivery of IT services. This course helps students understand the basic principles of IT service management, including key processes, practices, and techniques used to deliver effective digital solutions. Students also begin their studies in a second major, minor, or elective area, broadening their academic scope. In the second year, the program builds on this foundation with courses that cover a range of essential topics. Students learn about needs analysis, acquisition, and training—key areas in understanding user requirements and implementing appropriate digital services. They also study modelling techniques, microservices architecture, program design and construction, and information security technologies. These subjects provide both theoretical and practical insights into how digital services are developed, secured, and maintained. Students continue to expand their knowledge through second major, minor, or elective courses. In the third year, students focus on more advanced and specialized areas. Courses include service innovation and design, which explores how to create user-centered and efficient IT services, as well as the internet of things (IoT) and its applications, offering insights into how connected devices are transforming industries. Information security management is also a key focus, preparing students to protect systems and data in complex digital environments. Final courses in the second major, minor, or electives are also completed during this year. Overall, the program offers a comprehensive education in digital services, combining technical knowledge with practical experience to prepare graduates for roles in IT service design, delivery, and management across a wide range of industries.
