COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the program, students build a strong foundation in computing by studying six core courses that introduce key concepts in computer science and information systems. In addition, they take a course focused on data analytics, which covers fundamental data analysis techniques and the computing tools needed to apply these methods effectively. This helps students develop an early understanding of how data can be used to solve problems and inform decision-making. Alongside these core subjects, students also begin studying courses for their chosen second major, minor, or elective, allowing for a broader educational experience. In the second year, the curriculum deepens with courses in data science, forecasting, and data structures and algorithms. These subjects equip students with the skills to analyze complex data sets, develop predictive models, and understand the underlying structures that support efficient computing. Students continue with their second major, minor, or elective courses to enhance their interdisciplinary knowledge and practical abilities. In the third year, the focus shifts to advanced and specialized areas, including nature-inspired computing, artificial intelligence, data mining, and knowledge engineering. These topics explore cutting-edge techniques and technologies used to extract insights from data and design intelligent systems. Students also complete the final courses for their second major, minor, or electives, rounding out their academic journey. By the end of the program, graduates are well-prepared to tackle data-driven challenges in a variety of industries. The combination of foundational knowledge, practical experience, and specialized skills ensures students are equipped for careers in data science, analytics, and other fields that rely on intelligent computing and decision-making.
